Indoor and outdoor position
• UWB allow accurate positioning systems also indoors which GNSS systems don’t cover
• There are several methods available, some examples in following
Triangulation
• By ToF distance measurement to several fixed anchors based on two way ranging TWR
• By Time Difference of Arrival method (TDoA) to several acchors with time synchorization
Point to Point Positioning
• It is possible to define a position of UWB node by a single anchor calculated based on the distance and the direction in the case the anchor is directional aware one. Please look more on ’Direction’ pages
Range
• The sensitivity of most UWB chipsets allow coverage over 70m range with proper radio design
• In some applications and with special radio design it is possible to reach accurate distance measurement over 200m within regulted TX power limits
